Aorta

Aorta is a study of flowers and plants in parks in London and pays homage to people murdered in parks in Brazil. Transforming everyday and banal moments for us “on this side” into an extraordinary and unreal underworld for those who couldn’t see it.
The Aorta, an artery
that carries blood away from the heart to the rest of the body is used as a meaning of life and death for this project that explores perspectives, ordinary and extraordinary events in people’s lives depending on where they live.
A walk in London park is taken as a normal activity by its citizens and tourists; this project transforms this ordinary walk into a crime scene, using plants as pieces of evidence for a forensic search of how an everyday action can be dangerous and mortal in some other cities around the world. The images have been named after victims that have encountered the end of their life while jogging, walking, or just looking for fresh air in a park.
Seeking to bring to reality how some people are privileged where they live, while others don’t, this body of work intend to bring to light a reality that many people face in their daily life living in a less privileged country such as Brazil.
