About

Danilo Zocatelli Cesco (b. 1989) is a Brazilian artist based in Lymington, UK. Working across photography, performance, and material processes, his practice explores queer identity, masculinity, and the body in relation to landscape, memory, and transformation.

Rooted in his upbringing in the Brazilian countryside and his current proximity to the New Forest, Cesco engages rural environments as sites where normative masculinities are both constructed and unsettled. His work moves between personal and collective narratives, creating situations where the body can be reimagined through gesture, presence, and performance. His ongoing dialogue with his father forms one strand of this practice, opening space for vulnerability and renegotiation, while collaborations with queer communities expand these questions beyond the familial.

Recent work, including VIADO, focuses on processes of reclamation, particularly the reappropriation of homophobic language and its embodiment within landscape and performative acts. His process is tactile and materially driven, incorporating cameraless photography, papermaking, organic matter, sculpture, video, and sound. Influenced by a background in cooking, he approaches making through transformation and sensoriality, expanding photography into a physical and time-based practice.
