Danilo Zocatelli Cesco is an Italian-Brazilian artist who draws inspiration from people's stories, objects, everyday life, performance, drag, and his queer identity. He is interested in the materiality of photo production, cameraless photography, fine art, and experimenting with papermaking and recycling.
He developed an interest in photography after moving to London in 2012 and utilising it to communicate with his family in Brazil. During his BA (Hons) in photography studies at the University of East London, his piece "Visible, Invisible" was shortlisted for display at 'Art Number 23' gallery in Athens, Greece, and his body of work "Drag Kings" was exhibited at 'Show 22' in Broadgate, London.
With an interest in working with marginalised groups and minorities, he produced his final year degree project in collaboration with female ex-offenders, expanding his knowledge into video interviewing and experimenting with mask construction and papier-mâché.
He is presently pursuing a Master's degree at the Royal College of Art, where he is working on a project with his father on his queer identity, and he is committed to continuing to experiment with many mediums for his practice, always striving to build a powerful and well-researched body of work.
