Aorta

Aorta is a visual exploration of flowers and plants in London parks, set against the haunting memory of lives lost in public parks in Brazil. It bridges two worlds—what feels safe and mundane here becomes surreal and fatal elsewhere. Named after the artery that pumps life from the heart, Aorta traces the fragile boundary between life and death. It reflects on how something as simple as a walk in the park—routine in London—can be dangerous, even deadly, in other parts of the world. By reimagining the London park walk as a crime scene, the work uses plants as forensic evidence—quiet witnesses to a global imbalance. Each image is titled after a victim: someone who was jogging, walking, or simply seeking air and never returned. This project speaks to privilege, geography, and the randomness of safety. It asks us to see the invisible lines that divide the ordinary from the unthinkable—and to acknowledge the lives that cross them.
